Fun tidbit. Have you ever wondered what the writing process is like for an author? I can't speak for everyone, but for me... this picture says it all...

Surprisingly, that is EXACTLY how it works. Lol.

When I start writing a book, I may know the overall story, but I have no idea how everything will unfold. Eventually, the characters take a life of their own and start making decisions that even I may not agree with. But still, I write down all of their nonsense because, well, that's I'm here for. Lol.

In some cases, I have been genuinely surprised at a plot twist that even I did not see coming. I love when that happens. It happened in book 1 of the Anomalous series...

Originally, I had no idea who had left the blood in her locker. Or who left the note on the bus... so I kept writing because, like Sage, I was eager to find out who knew the truth about her... I was genuinely shocked when I found out. Lol.

Anyway, I'm working on two different books at the moment. Anomalous Rogues, and a fairy tale retelling which you could read more about it here.
For now, I'm excited to share with you a sneak peek of My Best Friend and the Honeymoon Game which will be released next week.

“Did you hear they’re recruiting couples for the new season of The Honeymoon Game?” Jared gestured to the TV behind her, but Judy was too consumed by her dinner to turn around.

“Now, there’s easy money,” she joked.

“I know right.” He snorted. “If we were married, we could win that whole thing with our eyes closed.”

“If you were taller and had more abs, then maybe you would have a shot with me.”

He faked a laugh then threw a piece of carrot at her, which made her chuckle. “And if you didn’t speak with food in your mouth, you would be irresistible. But that’s not the case, now is it?”

She opened her mouth wide, knowing it grossed him out. He looked away, cringing, and she laughed. “You’re such a dork.”

When she shoved another roll into her mouth, he watched her for a long moment.

“What?” she asked with her mouth full.

“I did something really stupid,” he confessed, dropping the carrot back on his plate. “I found a way to get you the money for college.”

She looked at him as if he’d gone mad. “This isn’t funny, Jared,” she mumbled as she swallowed her food.

“I’m not joking,” he said. “But before I tell you, please know that I am very much aware of how stupid this is.”

“What did you do?”

He waited until the waitress finished refilling their waters then looked at Judy again. “Again, it’s really stupid—”

“Stop stalling and tell me.”

“Fine.” He pulled out his phone then swiped the screen. When he handed it to her, she noticed an email saying congratulations.

“What’s this?” she asked, scanning the words, but they didn’t make any sense. Why were they congratulating him… and her?

“I signed us up for The Honeymoon Game, and we got accepted.”

Judy looked up at him as if he’d slapped her. “You did what?”

“I read somewhere that they were doubling the cash prize this year, and I thought—”

“No, clearly you didn’t think at all.”

He leaned forward and lowered his voice. “Judy, we could totally win the show.”

“Have you gone mad?”

“I know it’s a crazy idea—”

“Oh, crazy is an understatement.” She laughed, because what else was there to do? “This is beyond insane.”

“Just hear me out, please?”

“No.”

“Why not?” He looked her in the eyes. “We know everything about each other. We could totally pocket this money.”

“Except…” She leaned in with a mocking tone. “It’s not called ‘The Best Friends’ game, Jared. It’s The Honeymoon Game. As in married.”

“So, we get married.”

She leaned back, baffled. “We’re not talking about ordering another plate of sushi here.”

“I know that, but what do we have to lose?”

Judy opened her mouth, but she wasn’t entirely sure how to answer that question.

“Look…” He glanced around to make sure no one was listening. “We drive a few hours, get married, spend a week in that resort for the game, win the prize, and voila! You have your college fund.”

“What about your games?”

“The season doesn’t start until fall.”

“And our marriage?”

“We get a divorce.” He sat back with a slight shrug then snapped a carrot stick between his teeth. “Easy plan.”

“What if they find out we’re lying?”

“But we won’t be.” He flashed her a smirk. “That’s what makes this a perfect plan.”

This was far from perfect, but Judy didn’t bother stating the obvious.

“So?” He looked at her eagerly. “Are you in?”

She couldn’t believe she was even considering it. This was insane. But it was easy money. And they had already been accepted.

“What if we don’t win?” she asked.

“Then at least we tried.” Jared shrugged. “What’s the worst that could happen?”
